Turkish and Finnish

Turkish

Turkish (Türkçe) is supported both as a spoken language and as a note language. Record a meeting in Turkish and get an English note, or follow an English or Finnish meeting with a live Turkish translation. Azerbaijani is available as a note language too, and the app itself is available in Turkish.

Finnish

Finnish (Suomi) is supported both as a spoken language and as a note language, the app itself is available in Finnish, and Gistsmith is made by a small company in Finland. Swedish, Estonian, Norwegian and Danish are supported too.

Languages you can speak (35)

The live transcript and the final transcript support these languages. The list holds only languages that every speech engine the app uses supports: the live cloud transcript, the final transcript with speaker separation and the on-device model the Mac falls back to.

Meetings with more than one language

One main language at a time

Each meeting has a spoken language: choose one, or leave it on Automatic. The live transcript follows one language at a time (your main meeting language in Automatic mode), and you can switch the language from the panel during the meeting.

The final transcript detects the language

When the meeting ends, the transcript is made again from the recording. In Automatic mode, the speech service detects the language from the audio.

A fixed language keeps the record clean

If you fix the meeting language, sentences that are clearly in another language are left out of the transcript and the note; the live panel shows them dimmed.

Live translation of what others say

Live translation translates what the other participants say into your note language within seconds. Your own lines, and lines already in your language, are not translated.

Questions

Does Gistsmith support Turkish?

Yes. Turkish is one of the 35 languages you can speak in a meeting and one of the 37 languages notes and live translation can be written in. A Turkish meeting can get an English note, and an English meeting can get a Turkish note or a live Turkish translation. The app itself is available in Turkish too.

Does Gistsmith support Finnish?

Yes. Finnish is supported as a spoken language and as a note language, for the live transcript, live translation, notes and Ask, and the app itself is available in Finnish. Gistsmith is made in Finland.

Which languages is the app itself available in?

English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified) and Finnish. The app follows your Mac's language; to use another one, pick it under Interface language in Settings › General, and it applies when the app restarts. The app's language doesn't limit your meetings: you can still speak in any of 35 languages and get notes in any of 37.

Can one meeting mix two languages?

The app follows one main language at a time. In Automatic mode the final transcript detects the language from the recording, and during the meeting you can switch the live transcript's language from the panel. With a fixed language, sentences clearly in another language are left out. If people switch languages sentence by sentence, expect the transcript of the other language to be weaker.

Which language is the note written in?

In the note language you choose in Settings, one of 37, whatever language was spoken. The same language is used for live translation, “What did I miss?” and Ask.

Does voice typing work in every language?

Voice typing uses your main meeting language. On macOS 26 or later it uses Apple's on-device dictation, which supports the languages Apple offers for dictation on your Mac; on macOS 15 to 25 it uses an on-device speech model that downloads once (about 630 MB). Either way the audio stays on your Mac.
